Yanks Test Health Care System

1. Phil Hughes, after cortisone shot, hopes to soft toss in 6-8 weeks. With luck, he'll get to throw against (semi) live hitters in Trenton in late September.

Next season? He'll be a question mark.

2. Eric Chavez - just fractured a metatarsal bone in his foot running out a triple, which plated one of our two runs today. It takes 6-8 weeks for a fracture to heel.

So we might see him after the all star break, working himself back into shape at Trenton.

3. Jorge - in good health except he seems to strike out a lot, hit into double plays a lot, and get thrown out at any base to which he appears running.

Seriously, I'm going to sponsor a race between Jorge and Bartolo Colon. 90 feet in under one minute wins.

4. Derek - that little hip tug is nothing. But it was enough to cause Joe to play Nunez. Need I say more?

5. A-Rod - healthy but needs a day off. Because of injury to Chavez, no such luck.

So we get swept by the Tigers, who greeted us with a 7 game losing streak of their own.

Tick tock.

That is a lie.

We did not get swept by the Tigers.

We beat them on Monday.
