First, Rangers-Bruins/Knicks-Celtics will trigger serious PTSD from my childhood. Though actually, by that time the Knicks could usually beat the Celts when it counted. The Bruins just owned the Rangers. Until finally, in the 1972-1973 playoffs, the Rangers upset them in 5 games...only to lose in 5 to the Black Hawks.
Sigh...
The 1973 Knicks only beat Boston because Havlicek was playing with a separated shoulder.
There's no crying in basketball, Publius. Winning is winning, no matter the circumstances.
Yeah, but didn't the Knicks not have The Pearl for that series, due to injury?
Hondo didn't cry. He played left-handed.
Hammer, I'm also glad to see Verlander seems to be done. But boy, that was the all-time fail of The Brain.
Down the stretch in 2017, Cashman went after Sonny Gray instead of Verlander. From 2017-2022, Verlander went 69-23, 2.42 ERA, and won 10 postseason games.
Sonny Gray? Well, still pitching well...after Cashie traded him on for NOTHING.
If we had signed Verlander, the Yanks probably win 4 rings in that time. He could wear any damned beard he liked!
The New Yorker Blowthani cover is an abomination.
Exactly. EXACTLY.
Pop Quiz!
What rhymes with Kyle Tucker?
Vile Fucker?
I was enjoying the naming rights riffs in the other thread.
How about: Tom Carvel Field in Boss Tweed Stadium? With the Marv Albert sky boxes?
The Bit wins!
Gleyber does it again!
Gleyber has a very low baseball IQ
What a dimwit.
mr. bit, I'd propose a dedicated "Calgon, take me away" thread.
But, I've always been a tastes awful, less filling, kinda guy.
And, yes.
Gleyber is on the spectrum.
Spectrum Business? Spectrum cable? Spectrum crap original series?
Rodon does not fill me with confidence.
Gleyber out of character with a good play.
I know. I was shocked.
Astros have brought in one of the Italian pilots from Night the Opera.
At the Opera.
Judge is back.
Rodon is on that Ozempic diet - so he could have eaten your confidence JM and you would never have known it
Brunson out with ankle issue. Questionable to return!
Wasn't he in Along Came Brunson?
AA, excellent point. Fred Allen-esque.
@JM well played
JM, you made me go to the way back machine.
Yankees now into the sad sack part of the pen. For a bullpen that has the best ERA in baseball, they make me very, very nervous. Not to be confused with the Psychoneurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous.
As a late friend of mine used to say, my brain is a cornucopia of crap.
Can't we have a reliever who can finish off a game cleanly? It's embarrassing.
Somebody like King would do.
Thuuuuuuuuh Yankees win! Finally.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Rodent wasn't rat shit tonight
Some injured and less minor-leaguey relievers should be returning within the coming weeks, right? Right?!
Would that these games had occurred a number of years ago in October rather than in May of this year. But I’ll take it anyway.
Small comfort.
I had to read these comments 'after the fact'. I MUST say that you guys are rounding into mid-season form! Glad that I wasn't drinking a milkshake. Keep up the hilarious work!
