I apparently have been asleep. I just went thru the box scores of games 1-2-3, and did not see the name Gil.
Not a single appearance in 3 games that matter.
Is he sheltering in place? Missing in action? Stranded at an airport? OR: Is it the Yankees braintrust (harrrumph!) that's asleep?
Would you rather see Gil pitching Game 4, over Cole?
At this point, if they keep NOT pitching Gil, if and when they finally do, he'll be rusty. He'll blow up, maybe. And they will blame his rookie status, youth, or inexperience for the loss.
I'm sorry to rant on this, but I can't believe the best pitcher on the game hasn't even appeared in relief.
@ Joe, Gil had a great April into May but hasn’t been the same since. He issues way too many walks to pitch him against a team that has speed like Witt. Go look at his stats, his era outside of the early run is not good.
Stanton is a good guy, liked by seemingly everybody on the team. And he's been known to do the kind of thing he did last night. Sadly, Judge is also known to do the kind of thing he did last night and the two games before. Which is, nothing.
I followed instructions. I looked. Gil's pre-all-star era was 3.17, post 4.20. Obviously, a big diff. I'd still pitch him, because I have a very hard head.

Giancarlo to the rescue ,,,,,Wow, just WOW!!!!!!
Stanton cares about you and me. He loves us all.
But Frankensteinbrenner doesn’t…
Stanton does not care about anybody. It's all about him. He's like the private equity of baseball players.
But we care about him...
Every Yankees win is a big win™.

That's "best pitcher on the team."
