Yanks so embarrassing, so sad, that the juju gods got mad and took it out on Mariano Rivera. Surgery on his ankle. Fortunately, he has a year to heal. He'll be back.
Yanks blathering about how impressed they are with Giancarlo Stanton in the field. Sure they are.
Redsock fan assuring me that a) Yanks will make a final run and b) Roman Anthony is the next big thing.
Head hurts. Going to see a band today.
Tomorrow, return to sweet reality.

Truth is, it is the second time the JJ Gods took it out on Mariano’s legs . . . Just as well seeing that Cashman was on the verge of signing Rivera to pitch for us.
Question is: Would Mariano, now older and pitching from a wheelchair, STILL be more effective a closer than D Williams?
I think we all know the answer to that one, Joe.
Shane Spencer had to be one of the youngest old timers there, and he looks terrible. But it was fun to see all those guys again.
Mickey Rivers is still a riot.

Hmm.
That is code for not wanting to be horrifically booded…
From the AP article:
Before the event, Rivera said he intended to speak with struggling reliever Devin Williams, who allowed three runs in the 10th inning Friday. He has allowed nine runs in his last five appearances and 28 earned runs this year, two more than 2022-24 combined.
"Can't do nothing about it," Rivera said Saturday morning. "Once it's done, it's done. Just learn from it, move on and be confident. You have to be confident in yourself. If you're not confident in yourself, you're playing the wrong sport."
Meant booed...
Williams is definitely playing the wrong sport. Maybe he should try pickleball.
Bednar can throw five-out saves every game, right?
Better to be booed than booded…
W R o N G
I’d like to bood him in the ass
Not every game, but Goose & Lyle did it routinely
Records since June 13th...
Yanks 20-30
Mets 18-30
Steve - Wouldn't it be great if he could
I guess the Human Talent isn't quite as talented as the press said...
Anne Elk's theory on Yankee coaching.
During spring training, the team has a lot of the old timers as "special instructors".
They're "special" because they actually have fire and know how to win.
The Yankees exit spring training with this knowledge and have a fast run out of the gate.
Being relatively mush brained athletes, they don't retain the knowledge, especially since the Boone squad imparts negative learning along the way.
We are now here.
