Grish takes the money and stays

Trent Grisham has accepted the Yankees' $22 million qualifying offer.

A miscalculation by the brain trust?

Maybe you meant to say that the BrianTrost made the miscalculation . . .

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

Suckitude and Fuckitude

There is no imagination going into the creation of this team, no serious intuition, no good baseball experience and very little intelligence. Money will only get you so far

This one isn't tough to figure this one out. Cashman loves a one year deal. The number's manageable. And I get why Grisham accepted. He wasn't getting $22mil AAV on the open market. He'd get more years, for more overall money, but not at that annual rate. So he really is betting on himself, and has a pretty good cushion if that's a bad bet. Hit next year too, he'll get a much higher multi-year deal next year starting in 2027 (assuming there's mlb baseball). If he doesn't hit, he's got $22mil and will still get some offers.
Doesn't do much for Yankees' prospects, in every sense of the word, in 2026.

I guess it depends on how much the allow themselves to be limited by the expenditure. If it's not at all (fat chance) then it's a severe overpay for a fourth OF but OK.

If it's instead of Belly or Tucker then it is horrible.

Rebus answers: Just in case anyone tried to figure them out.

1) (Baboon - baa (Boone) I saw (Is a) Mow Ron (Weasley). (moron)

Boon is a moron.

The Martian Can + Tee (Can't) Field

Hal Sequel - S (equals) cheep (cheap)

Seems par for the course. Have the contracts expire when the shutdown occurs.

Not a bad approach, as long as HAL is not the owner and Ca$hole is not the GM when they exit the shutdown.

Of course, that's not what they'll do.

Because, HAL.
