The answer is Wally Pipp. He died in 1965.
Also, tip of the hat to Bill Simmons for mentioning on his podcast that Ransom was an extra playing 2nd base behind the forgettable Kevin Costner during his perfect game. I was unaware.
I totally thought that sea monster was going to get a hit off him.
