As we all know, earning the Yankee of the Month
accolade is typically the kiss of death for a player.
But what if that player is already the kiss of death?
What if that player has become a joke for his ineptitude and personal performance delusions?
Could the election to " Yankee of the Month " reverse the negatives?
Our normal fear is that by electing a fine player to this honor we put a curse on the positives, and it hurts the player's future performance as well as the team.
But if the natural outcome of the election is to reverse the player's performance that earned him the MVY ( of the month ) trophy, perhaps the mojo impact of electing Joba to this high standard would work in reverse for Joba's benefit.
And convert him from a laughingstock to the star he was meant to be.
Just a thought.
