And so it came to pass, in the two thousand and ninth year of the Common Era, that thhhuuuuuhhhhhh Yankees were restored to their rightful place as rulers of the United States of Baseball; supporters of the usurpers of Boston once again wallowed in self-pity and resentment; the Metropolitan Baseball Club of New York sank further into the abyss; and the self-proclaimed MIP, having twice been the LP, returned to the mango orchard of his youth for his remaining years and was never to be heard from again.
