Ridiculous.
A week ago we were destined to be remembered as the overachievers who outlasted Boston.
Now, we're the team of Jeter's 3000th hit.
I know, I know, you can't say a bad word about Jete on the Internet without the Department of Yankee Positive Explaination Police knocking on your door and asking to see your papers. And Jete is a great Yankee. But we've fallen behind Boston, and we're ever closer to Tampa, and we're not playing our best batting order.
Redsock fans all around me. Smirking. "What's it like to see the Redsocks from behind?" "Hey, how's Jeter's 3000th quest going?" Yeesh. If we lose today, it's over.
And here's the one talking point from this four-day drunk:
If we lose today, I don't give a crap whether Jeter gets his 3,000th. We'll have lost today. Understand?

Winning is, of course, much more important than anything else. And personally, I couldn't care less about round number "milestones." The hype and the cashing-in the Yankees are doing are ridiculous and disgusting. I just don't think that dropping Jeter down in the order at this point would actually help us win, for reasons I've stated in prior comments.
