Heads Up for Netflix Subscribers: Leaving April 25th

We stumbled across an excellent documentary on Yogi Berra last night on Netflix .  It's sentimental and a bit of a tear jerker but, boy, it's good.

Beyond Yogi's story, told mostly by his family, there are great appearances by Derek Jeter, Willie Randolph, Joe Torre, Hal Steinbrenner, Suzyn Waldman, and a host of others you don't want to miss.

I hadn't seen this biopic discussed here on IIH and it leaves Netflix on April 25th, so this might be your one and only heads up. It's well worth your time.

I've seen it. It's terrific and Yogi is severely underrated by Yankee fans when it comes to our "Mt. Rushmore"

LBJ....Thanks for the heads up!

That might be true, Doug. But because of Yogi's well-known "philosophy," he could be the most famous Yankee after Ruth and Gehrig.

Bill James ranks him the greatest catcher ever. Yanks signed him, Whitey Ford, and Mickey Mantle for a combined $8,650. Didn't take money, just brains. Something HAL might think about. (That is, if he really wants anything different.)

Hey, nobody seems to be joining me on the poetry post, so I'll bring this over here:

Airbender
He’s the man,
The man with the golden pitch!

Such a slow bender,
He’ll get you out
Unless you wait!
So don’t wait.

(No, please don’t wait.)

Even Wim Wenders
Was never so slow in his prime
What was that goalie thing about?
But never doubt—

He’s a game ender,
If you let him pitch.
So don’t let him pitch
Boone, you bitch!

Bartender,
Give me another,
They’re putting him in.
A four-run lead is nothing to him.
Make it gin—

For the Airbender!

The Yogi doc was really good. We watched it when it came out on Netflix.

There was a lot more to the guy than Yoo Hoo.

Could Jazz be a borderline Moronic showboating imbecile….?

Asking for a friend.

Definitely losing patience with him.

Why in the fuck wasn’t Volpe bunting? Naturally he hits into a DP

Pull Warren now while he's on a positive swing

When is Leiter going to be DFA’d?

The Yankees lose. Thank you CashDick Splashman!

You just knew they were going to blow this one.

Judge now up to .411, too many holes in the lineup beyond that.

It’s becoming more and more apparent Volpe will never be even an average MLB hitter

Stanton and LeMahieu ain’t gonna make any difference….

Leiter follows his performance with even worse comments to the press afterwards:

"Ball didn't bounce our way...Not much to unpack here..."

The ball didn't bounce our way? You're not talking about a punt that took a freak roll. YOU bounced the ball "not our way." Nothing to unpack? You're right. Why not pack instead? And don't let the door bounce badly on the way out.

Thankfully my mlbtv subscription doesn’t include the post game content. Theater connections?

The Yogi doc is excellent, I've watched it twice, and t makes clear why he is one of the greatest players of all time. While they might not be as popular with Yankee loyalists, the Netflix docs on the Red Sox, The Comeback and now the Clubhouse, are also worth watching. So do you love baseball, or just the Yankees and the idiocy surrounding them?
