He's 35 and will make 6.5 million. During his time with the Red Sox, he had an OPS of .830-something.
May he cavort with Van Johnson and Gene Kelly in his dreams.

That's a truly beautiful blessing, JM. And may the infield dirt rise up to meet his face on occasion and bless him with the taste of a summer's day and a child's game. I sure could use 6.5 mil. now. My sympathies will always lie with the players over the owners, but I have little to spare for the players these days and, in fact, whatever walkout/lockout happens this year, baseball has pretty much lost me as a serious fan by this point.
No more do I follow the trade news. No more do I listen eagerly to pre or post game analysis. No more do I watch Spring Training games. And know this - I used to LIVE for all that stuff. Every year. It was part of my cycle of life. Maybe they can suck me back in, but it would take a lot. They HAVES in this country ought to know that the HAVE-NOTS are living in a different world from them. They don't know it and it may, in fact, soon be guillotine time, but that's another post for another day.
Rich men playing a child's game? It's an old story, an old complaint, but they're not doing a good job of distracting us anymore. Fuck Hal and fuck the Sotos of this world.

Nice article for ol' Double R.
My fandom is also far less rabid than it used to be. Baseball is the sport that kills itself.
