Trading Genius

We just traded four pitching prospects for a guy who may be a worse defender than Dominguez.

And, he plays the one position where we actually have depth ( first base)..

So now we can, each day, sit one of our three best hitters ( Rice, Goldschmidt, or the new guy ).

This is how you build a contender.

And we have him nest year as well.

Surely he can become a catcher by then.

My hat is off to Brian Cashman who never fails to face this team into the abyss.

Trading genius indeed. Now we have three 1st baseman. Goldschmidt has a perfect glove. Rice is second in the league for HR's and a solid, clutch player. But now we have a defensive disaster to squeeze in there. Can't put him at 2B, he'll make Jazz look sterling. And - hey! - we have another lefty!

But we did give away a potentially good relief pitcher (in a bullpen that needs him) & drained prospect pool for all of this, so - hey! - let's celebrate!

If we all get drunk enough, we might actually believe that the ever more certain post-season flameout will actually get Cashman non-tendered when his contract expires this fall.

But if all else fails, we do have the certainty that the MLB will lock out the players, so we won't have to listen to the inane stupidities of Boone and Cashman lie to us. Or pay to watch next year's dumpster fire of a team.

I feel better now.

Yeah, depressing on closer examination. Or maybe it means that they know Judge isn't coming back this year, so...also depressing.
