Will the Battlin' Bronx Bastards score a fucking run tonite? So sick of seeing the Bastards gettin' their butts kicked all over the Korean peninsula by millions of naked, bootless, and rifleless Commies. Do these Bastards know how to fight? Retreat? They don't do any retreating, ever. They just fight backwards. I wanna see them score a fucking run tonite. I wanna see them fight their way out of darkness. I wanna see them advancing to the rear, all the way to Yankee Stadium. That too much to ask? Fucking Bastards.

AboveAverage said...

They will score 3.6 runs tonight, HoG.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.

The WinWarblist said...

The Yankees will waste another remarkable start by Cam and find their way to wretched shameful ignominious defeat.

Pocono Steve said...

We suck. We're not scoring tonite.

The Hammer of God said...

If that half inning is any indication, we're in for a long, frustratingly wretched nite.

The Hammer of God said...

And there goes fucking McMahon with the error!

Pocono Steve said...

McMuffin's a bum

The Hammer of God said...

Ya know, that ceiling is lookin' like it's about to cave in

The Hammer of God said...

I fail to see what the hell Yankee management sees in McMahon. He can't hit and his fielding is even worse. He's made more errors than the rest of baseball combined.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Good thing they have the all glove defense playing

Hinkey Haines said...

McMahon is making me pine for Josh Donaldson.

The Hammer of God said...

McMahon & Grisham, it really is amazing. If they like you here, you can do no wrong. If these guys made ten errors a game, they'd still be starting. If they went 0 for 1,000, they'd still be starting. It's incredible.

The Hammer of God said...

And there goes the ball game!

The Hammer of God said...

Just as I thought, the infield defense is ATROCIOUS!!!

AboveAverage said...

And Jazz

The Hammer of God said...

Now, all we're missin' are the dozens of parachutes and dying quails droppin' in to short center field.

Hinkey Haines said...

Knicks in five. That’s all we’ve got, folks.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Oh, right! I forgot we have a buffoon at second base! D'oh!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Celerino Sanchez

BernBabyBern said...

The Yankees have more errors in this inning than they have hits in this series.

The Hammer of God said...

A strikeout taken away by catcher's interference! Amazing! Wow, the clown show is unbelievable!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Fucking littler league game

HoraceClarke66 said...

Wells repeating his big mistake in the World Series.

The Hammer of God said...

Another error that was not an error!

The Hammer of God said...

Wow, these clowns are just IMPLODING!!!

HoraceClarke66 said...

And nearly a fourth!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Jazz out now.

BernBabyBern said...

Allow me to update: The Yankees have THREE TIMES as many errors in this inning than they have hits in this series.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Volpe in—say it's an injury.

The Hammer of God said...

Uh, you's guys in the infield, you're supposed to be trying to help our pitcher get some outs....

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Move jizz to third put volpe6 at 2nd

And I want to murder the announcers

The Hammer of God said...

Let's give a Bronx cheer to the Bastards! They got an out on a routine grounder!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Hey, he fielded one!

ranger_lp said...

THREE FUCKING ERRORS…

The Hammer of God said...

At this rate, it's gonna be 24-0 Tampa tonite.

Hinkey Haines said...

What was that, a 7 out inning?

Hinkey Haines said...

To paraphrase John Sterling: the Yankees play defense like a bunch of drunken sailors.

The Hammer of God said...

Wow, what a fucking nightmare inning. Ain't seen one like that since .... Well, we've seen games like this multiple times this year. And then this is gonna draw some comparisons to the clown show 5th inning in the 2024 World Series.

HoraceClarke66 said...

What Boone has to do NOW, is talk to his pitcher and say, 'Hey, very gutsy out there, despite the lack of support. You're a stud hoss.

THEN...he needs to immediately go to Jazz Chisholm, Austin Wells, and Ryan McMahon, and tell a good, filthy joke to each one.

Odds that he will do anything at all to settle any of them?

The Hammer of God said...

Ball stuck in the ceiling. Umps checkin' ground rules. We're seein' all the clowns come out tonite!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Mickey mouse park

13bit said...

Bern - you are correct. Clownshow tonight. They should be riding teeny clown bicycles out to the bullpen.

BernBabyBern said...

Domes suck.

The Hammer of God said...

The only thing left to happen is a UFO breaking through the ceiling and landing in the outfield.

13bit said...

This is not a serious team. Boone is not a serious manage. Brian is not a serious GM. Hal is a serious asshole.

ranger_lp said...

Just like the Dodgers in the 24 series. The scouting report on the Yankees was to just put the ball in play…deja vu all over again…

The Hammer of God said...

Will one of the balls that the Rays hit later tonite unravel in the air? Which do you catch, the cowhide or the inside? (Umps consult the ground rules.)

The Hammer of God said...

I heard the Rays practice infield defense all the time, everyday. But the Yankees never practice infield defense. That's what I heard.

The Hammer of God said...

Looks like it's gonna be a night to remember, for all the wrong reasons. Fuck this, I'm going to the kitchen, gettin' something to eat.

13bit said...

Trent, Jazz and Giancarlo should not be on this roster at all.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Wasting another cam start .

AboveAverage said...

Everyone is swinging for the fences….

13bit said...

Nobody teaches them fundamentals.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Yankees looking like dazed children in the dugout. Great.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Huh. And I had such a good feeling about this game and series...

BernBabyBern said...

Over-under on errors this inning is 2

13bit said...

Rays smell blood in the water.

HoraceClarke66 said...

It's almost as if everything we say and do and think as fans...doesn't really matter.

HoraceClarke66 said...

I don't ever want to see Jazz play for this team again.

Local Bargain Jerk said...

Yes sir

The WinWarblist said...

Tamps also practices bunting and fielding bunts.

HoraceClarke66 said...

What an outstanding play in the field by Bellinger. Well, at least it wasn't out.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Radical

HoraceClarke66 said...

They're timing that away pitch. Cam ought to go off it.

The WinWarblist said...

I imagine Tampa spends a lot of time practicing being good at baseball. They probably prepare to face every pitcher and go into every game with a plan.

HoraceClarke66 said...

McMahon almost booted that one, too. What a complete waste of space he has been.

The WinWarblist said...

Cam is overthrowing everything. Weight of the world on his shoulders and already down 1-0.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Jazz looks as though he is going to cry.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Smart play by Diaz to avoid getting hit.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Is that called "coaching"

HoraceClarke66 said...

You're right, Warbler. He needs to calm down. Be nice if we had a manager or something.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Also, they'e running up Cam's pitch count.

HoraceClarke66 said...

All right, nice recovery. Just one run, after two innings like that.

The WinWarblist said...

The infield defense is running up the pitch count too.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Of course, maybe we should rethink the game plan of getting them to hit everything to Jazz...

Local Bargain Jerk said...

Grisham threads the rings

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Booneball will end the season.

Mercy killing

Local Bargain Jerk said...

It's really great that the announcers are questioning Boones decisions

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Remember when Scott Brosius was the #9 hitter?

Yeah, good times. Right?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

We don't need no stinking manager.

He is only the ca$hole messenger.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Jizz didn't drop it. Yay!

The Hammer of God said...

Well, what d'ya know? Wells hits a home run! Ain't that sumthin'?

HoraceClarke66 said...

There it is! A break!

Hinkey Haines said...

Rice!

The Hammer of God said...

The Bronx Bastards ain't gettin' shut out tonite, or his name ain't Austin Wells!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Um, you okay, Hammer?

The WinWarblist said...

Oh for fuck sake, we scored a run.

The WinWarblist said...

Oh for fuck sake, we scored a run.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Yeah, come right apart, Freddy, you stinkin' Met.

The WinWarblist said...

And a single!

The WinWarblist said...

I have such meager aspirations for tonight's game.

The Hammer of God said...

Well, they scored a fucking run. And then got a hit too. Baby steps.

HoraceClarke66 said...

An ad for motion sickness medication? Okay. This series has made me pretty nauseous so far.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Insane not to run Spencer there, but I think Boonie had fainted.

The Hammer of God said...

Oh sorry, thought it was Wells who hit that homer! My bad. Too many bottles of Heinekin.

The Hammer of God said...

Double vision! I'm seein' UFO's in the outfield! Ha Ha!

The Hammer of God said...

Just came back from the kitchen, fully loaded.

Hinkey Haines said...

Grisham ran down a fly ball. Maybe the tide really is turning.

The Hammer of God said...

No wonder he hit a homer. His name was Ben Rice!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Just glad you're all right, Hammer.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Cam looks calm. And yeah, Grisham ran down a flyball! I KNEW that witch doctor was worth the money.

The Hammer of God said...

Well, after all of that crazy shit, we've got a ball game after all. Fucking amazing!

The Hammer of God said...

Oh, I'm all right, Hoss! Thanks. Just a little crazy!

ranger_lp said...

Terrible delay on TBS feed…

BernBabyBern said...

This whole “stopping at second base” thing works pretty well, doesn’t it, Austin?

HoraceClarke66 said...

You know, I think he might've had a triple on that...

The Hammer of God said...

Hoss, was that witch doctor specializing in white magic or black magic? Good to know!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Also, I think that Ryan McMahon might be the first zero-tools player in the history of the game. Just saying.

The Hammer of God said...

Ha, fucking Kevin Cash with the hook!

HoraceClarke66 said...

I don't ask any questions, Hammer. I just want results.

HoraceClarke66 said...

I think our best hope here is two wild pitches.

ranger_lp said...

Why is McMahon in the lineup? Isn’t he like 0-90 against Peralta?

HoraceClarke66 said...

A walk, we will take.

The Hammer of God said...

Well, even if they fuck up tonite, they can say they knocked out Freddy Peralta! This clown show game has been pretty amazing. Wouldn't it be sumthin' if the Rays bullpen got the crap beaten out of them tonite?

BernBabyBern said...

To be fair, he was 0-for-90 against pretty much everyone this year.

HoraceClarke66 said...

A smart manager would've come out and started yelling "Balk!" when Peralta looked back to second. He would not have gotten the call, but it might have upset Freddy, and shook things up.

We don't have a manager like that.

The Hammer of God said...

Boone does all the wrong things, all the time.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Uh-oh—we have a Cam vs. Cam situation.

The Hammer of God said...

Another Yankee drive caught deep in the outfield. The AC vents on/off button must be workin' again.

ranger_lp said...

That is so Billy Martin…

HoraceClarke66 said...

Damn!

The Hammer of God said...

Cam is in the soup again.

The Hammer of God said...

Shit, there goes the ball game again!

13bit said...

Cam deserves better than this from his team.

Hinkey Haines said...

They're hopeless. Absolutely hopeless.

The Hammer of God said...

The Bastards finally scored a run, but now they're melting down under the relentless pressure of Tampa's small ball tactics.

13bit said...

This is the playoffs. We have been saying this all year. It was satisfying to pound the Sox, but they are not a great team this year. This is the meat grinder and we are salami.

The Hammer of God said...

So we know they'll have to score at least 3 more runs to win this game. Do they have it in them?

The Hammer of God said...

Yeah, the Red Sox had it going for a while, but they de-railed. Stopped scoring runs.

The Hammer of God said...

Errors and more errors.

Hinkey Haines said...

This organization is a fiasco.

The Hammer of God said...

Palacios in a big spot here. I predicted he's going to have a huge series. Let's see what happens.

13bit said...

Obviously, this is baseball, Suzyn, and anything can happen, but I don't see it. These guys live and die by the Three Outcomes, but the bomb - NAMATH TO RICHIE CASTER....but I digress - and Tampa knows how to pitch to them. We are not a well built team. We have had some great pitching this year, but everything else, namely the hitting, fielding and managing decisions, have sucked. None of this is news to any of us. More of the Brain's magical thinking: "get to the playoffs and anything can happen. it's a crapshoot." Well, there may be some truth to that, but the better teams usually have a better chance of winning "the crapshoot." Fuck you, Hal.

ranger_lp said...

I don’t see the Yankees coming back…

Hinkey Haines said...

Go Brewers.

Hinkey Haines said...

Baboone4eva said...

Typical Yankees. Failing to capitalize then getting crushed on the next inning

The Hammer of God said...

And there it is. Palacios, board certified Yankee Killer. (He does kill other teams, too. So I guess I can't hold it against him too much, unlike with Evan Longoria.)

13bit said...

so long, it's been good to know you. so long, it's been good to know you. ask me if I'm going to watch the next game. just ask me...remember when WE were the team that all ran to the middle of the infield and fell into a scrum? We were all much younger then. I'm sure as shit older than that now. time for bed.

The Hammer of God said...

This game is ovuh, ka-put, stick a fork in it.

Local Bargain Jerk said...

It sucks when it's the top of the 6th and you know it's over

Ken of Brooklyn said...

This is the end, my only friend, the end,,,,

The Hammer of God said...

Like I've said before, if you think they can't hit Tampa starting pitching, just wait 'til the Tampa relievers come in. Nothing but goose eggs. Tampa could bring in a 10 year old girl from the bullpen, Yankees will go down one-two-three, with at least two strikeouts.

AboveAverage said...

It sucks to be at the beginning of the season and know it’s over

HoraceClarke66 said...

The waste of pitching that good is what kills me. This was pitching capable of winning it all. The Yankees will not advance beyond the division series, because Brian Cashman could not build a team that could either hit or field.

And, oh yeah, the manager is a moron. But that's only secondary.

BernBabyBern said...

If the Yankees had ANY defense tonight, we’d be praising Schlittler for gutting it out without his best stuff and keeping this game close. But he got no help.

The Hammer of God said...

When the same things happen over and over all year, the same mistakes, that's on the manager & the coaching. GM too. Can't keep doing the same things, expecting different results. Definition of insanity, and all that.

The Hammer of God said...

You have to wonder if Schlittler throwing 117 pitches against the Red Sox took something out of him. But he got no help from the infield tonite. Hell, his infielders were enemy saboteurs.

AboveAverage said...

True Hoss
True Bbb

It is embarrassing to watch as they cut to Boone in the dugout and the only thing that he appears serious about is maximizing the number of seeds he’s able to toss into his toxic pie hole.

13bit said...

He deserved better

BernBabyBern said...

Solo home runs. The Yankees’ not-so-secret weapon.

A baserunner once in a while would really help.

Baboone4eva said...

No help? More like sabotage from those bums

AboveAverage said...

Rice solos need to obviously increase to 6-7 per game

Hinkey Haines said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
Hinkey Haines said...

Bad hitting. Bad fielding. Bad base running. Bad managing. Bad roster construction. Bad coaching. So, as Cashman will no doubt inform us after this series ends with another Yankee faceplant, the obvious problem was injuries.

The WinWarblist said...

I had such meager hopes for tonight's game and still they disappointed.

AboveAverage said...

I’d start Jazz in game three back at the stadium.

He’ll uhh . . . take care of business

BTR999 said...

Yanks watched TB clinch at Yankee Stadium, now we can watch them eliminate us there,

BTR999 said...

(choke)

edb said...

But they did not!

HoraceClarke66 said...

The stupidest thing concerning Jazz is that we are now simply going to let him walk. We got him for not-all-that much on a sort of emergency basis back in 2024. Okay. But the half-season or so he played that year should have been enough to see that he was simply not a mature or reliable ballplayer...

HoraceClarke66 said...

...We should then have traded him to somebody before or during last season, when he still had considerable trade value because of his much-ballyhooed "athleticism."

We did not, and as a result, he is going to simply walk off the team at the end of the season. It's addition by subtraction, but ridiculous when you consider the number of prospects we might have obtained for him. Or for Gleyber Torres, or Sonny Gray...
