The Case for Lamb

Mike Lamb, free agent.

In winter of 2004 -- after Aaron Boone pissed himself in pick-up basketball, and before A-Rod proved himself by busting his deal with the Redsocks -- the Yankees traded minor league nobody Jose Garcia for minor league 3B nobody Mike Lamb.

For seven weeks, he was our next Scott Brosius.

After A-Rod signed, we dealt Lamb to Houston for nobody Juan DeLeon.

Lamb is now 33. Last year, he hit .289 for the Astros with 11 HR in 300 ABs.

By the way, Lamb -- in 16 postseason games -- has 5 HRs.

A-Rod, in 34 games, has 6.

Lamb would be the first to tell you his 11 HR last year--down from 12 in 2006--were a disappointment.

Also:

According to Wikipedia, "Lamb named his unorthodox swing The Thing."

Now I have a favorite.
