Letter to the editor: Yankee trip controversy grips Australia

Geelong Advertiser (Australia)
June 2, 2011 Thursday
Dear Editors,

I think the mayor is well paid before he took the job on he knew what was involved.

How much does the mayor need to be paid, especially when the rates are put up so much?

Now some others want their trips paid for by the ratepayer, and the mayor is jetting to New York to watch the Yankees baseball team. What happened to the baseball centre at Waurn Ponds? How much did that cost?

The way our councillors are going is like politicians, travelling the world on the taxpayer.

I think councillors should start thinking about the people who put them there, more so when this carbon tax comes in.
