Derby Day

All right, so the Yanks spit the bit, stumbled out of the gate, pulled up lame on the back stretch.  Whatever other horse race saying you want to come up with on Derby Day.

I would add that it's time for Mike Tauchman to be taken to the infield and put down, sorry, SENT down, but it's not really funny.

Maybe the saddest moment came today when Tauchman flailed at a 94-mph fastball, and looked behind him to see if he really could have missed that ball.  He did, and something tells me it may be our last memorable image of the man.

What can you do?  Odorizzi was dealing, and nobody hit him all that hard.

But it did seem clear that it's time for Tauchman, at .167, with 27 K's in 72 at-bats, to depart again, back to what must be his incredibly frustrating existence juuuuuust on the edge of a major-league roster spot.

At least we got the benefit of his first 3 major-league homers, and 4 of his 5 doubles.  Good luck and Godspeed, Mr. Tauchman.

I guess he didn't have those "Luke Voit-like qualities" after all

I believe Tauchman is the only CF other than Gardner.

Maybe, but our Mr. Hicks will be back...someday. And don't forget Ellsbury!

I kid, I kid. Thing is, unlike Gio, who has shown enough to be considered for a spot on a major-league roster—or Voit, who has earned one—Tauchman has not shown anything to survive the return of the regulars.

And couldn't Maybin play CF in a pinch?

Meanwhile, the Pale Hose left old friend Manny Banuelos in to give up 10 consecutive hits against Boston.

Manny was coming off his first winning start since 2015, he had a 1-0 lead in the third, and retired the first 8 Carmine Hose batters, 3 on strikeouts.

Then, with two outs in the third—10 straight hits. Three doubles, three homers.

Are you #!&* kidding me? What, did the manager nod off?

Yeah, that must've been a really enjoyable game, out in Chicago. And MLB wonders why the fans aren't coming out...

LOL! All the Tauchman trash talk and he hits a 2 run homer. Nah, he still sucks.
