This Just In....

YANKEE TRIPLE A SHORTSTOP PROSPECT ALBERTO GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION....
Was batting .300 over last 10 games... Got a big double Sunday against Buffalo...
Had 12 stolen bases for year... Was hitting only .249.

Update, 11:37 a.m. E.S.T. -- We're doublechecking. Resignation speech did not mention team or Yankees.
Update II: 9:45 p.m. E.S.T. -- Box score says Alberto is 3/4 for Scranton, with a double. Must be the pressure is off, and now he can hit!

Plus,

Alberto has shown himself to be sort of useless in the field.

We were told he would be a good glove man, but he turned out to be mostly a good bag man.

He has speed ( get out of town speed ) but very little power ( OK none ).

Wonder when we'll see him suit up again and put on a show for TV.

With his background, he could show up pretty much anywhere and do pretty much anything.
