BOBBY OK

A brain biopsy on New York Yankees broadcaster Bobby Murcer shows no sign that a tumor has reoccurred.

"We received great news this morning. The biopsy revealed scar tissue. It showed no signs of cancer. It's what we had hoped for all along. I plan on resting at home over the next few weeks and focusing my energy on returning to the stadium for its final opening day. My family and I thank everyone for their prayers, e-mails, cards and thoughts.''

Great, great news.

But they STILL should honor him this year ...

If they surprised him at Old Timer's Day with a plaque, I'm betting it would get the loudest ovation the stadium has heard in a while.

Even better, put his name next to Billy Martin's on the "retired number" list for No. 1

Does he deserve it just for his playing career? No. Does he deserve for his broadcasting career? Not really. Put them together, though - especially considering how beloved he is in New York - and I think it puts him over the top.

Just my 2 cents.

I wonder if Giambi would lose or gain weight during 2 years in the service?
