Ordinarily, I love roasted turkey. Pretty much anytime and anywhere.
But the Javier turkey that re-appeared yesterday in Tampa was rotten. It was diseased and would harm any turkey lover who was naively enchanted by the aroma and promise of a freshly roasted bird.
Instead of what you see pictured here,
imagine the entrails that were either thrown out or boiled, then sauteed into some form of greasy gravy.
That's what we got. Javier is the Yankees' greasy gravy ingredient.
And that is a high compliment, based solely on the possibility that his first day was nothing more than a bad day in the oven.
But without that pitcher hitting in the 9th spot, this weak legged, awkward fat bird, might be no better than yesterdays' left-overs.
Ian Kennedy, where are you?

I think I am not alone when I say that I would like to see more poultry metaphors used when describing the Yankees' pitching staff.
Thank you.
Ian has started one game for Arizona; he pitched five innings and gave up three runs.
5 less runs than Javy.
But we can't trot Vazquez out against any team that can actually hit. We got to wait till interleague play so he could pitch against our fine city's JV team.
