The Post Standard (Syracuse, NY)

To the Editor:
Here we go again. Baseball season has started. I enjoyed reading about the Yankees losing yesterday. I read about it on the front page of the sports section, and more about it in the article on the baseball page.
Do you not realize that there’s another New York team? The Mets, with a AA team 70 miles south in Binghamton, and a AAA team 150 miles west in Buffalo (and could have come to Syracuse if we’d given them a decent presentation).
The Yanks have a AAA team in Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Pa., and a AA team in Trenton, N.J., which are close to New York state. They used to have a team here, but they left, leaving Syracuse’s love for the Yankees unrequited.
