Re: Last night...
1. If you are looking for any non-drug related reason for hope, it is standing before us in the form of Mr. Gregory Paul Bird, age 24, of Aurora, Colorado. Here's the otherworldly, non-drug scenario: Bird plays every day, bats fourth or fifth, goes on a hell-fire tear, and protects whomever is hitting in front of him. No matter what happens in October, we go into the winter secure about first base for the long-term future. Crazy, eh? Wouldn't it be nice?
2. CC's complaints about Boston's bunting was not only wrong - I mean, everybody can see it - but it was a flat-out stupid idea, from a "cagey" veteran who slipped his cage. At the least, he just slapped a bumper sticker on his forehead that says: I CAN'T FIELD. In the post season, nobody considers bunting to be a craven and cowardly act. (Except maybe the 2004 Yankees, who refused to bunt on old Catsup Foot.)
3. In 2016, a disastrous three game sweep by Tampa so demoralized the Yankees that they chose to rebuild: Ditching A-Rod, bringing up Sanchez and Judge Judy, trading for Glyber, Clint, Justus, et al. It was the most hopeful move in this wretched decade. Is it possible that we might look back at the recent wipe-out against Cleveland as a good thing? At least, it seems to have kept Brian Cashman from making a disastrous waiver trade - a la Verlander or Upton - thus far. This is the time of year when teams trade Mark Melancons for Lance Berkmans, and the Gammonites shower praise upon the team that obtained the aging slob.
4. In case you missed it last night, Aaron Judge made one of the coolest RF fake-outs since Lou Piniella deaked Rick Burleson in the Bucky Dent game, long long ago in a universe far far away. Judge pretended he was going to catch a bloop single, freezing baserunner Rafael Devers between first and second. It bounced in front of Judge, who threw a bullet to Didi, forcing Devers. Instead of two on and one out, there were two outs with a man on first. Brilliant play. Key play. For the first time in weeks, I saw Judge beaming a smile.
Wait a minute: Second non-drug ray of hope? Do we dare?

No. Do not dare.
CC IS WAY OFF BASE ON THIS BUNTING THING....
MAYBE THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH US....
MAYBE OUR TEAM IS TOO WORRIED ABOUT BASEBALL "ETIQUETTE"....
NOT BUNTING AGAINST THE METS WHEN TRAVIS DARNAUD WAS PLAYING THIRD?... WE SHOWED "ETIQUETTE"....
WELL CC, (AND GIRARDI), I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU....
IN THIS DOG EAT DOG WORLD, "BASEBALL ETIQUETTE" WILL GET YOU ONE THING...
3RD PLACE.
My thoughts exactly Alphonso
Bunting on a hurt pitcher is seen as cowardly act rather than playing smart baseball. It's one of those unwritten rules like not bunting when there is a no hitter going. It's a respect thing as well and it's a huge no-no if done against a vet. You see the younger players make mistakes like this all the time such as admiring their home runs. I find it all quite stupid, but whatever floats their boats, you know?
That bunt is kind of a dick move, but fair game.
Way too soon for anything even remotely resembling hope of any sort, though. New month. Time for the Yankees to turnover who's hitting and who isn't in the completely nonsensical way they do month-to-month.
Breaking News:.....Boston Legend FAT SHAMES Sabathia...
Puhleez us Yankee Fans do it all the time Our NY fat shames are better than Beantowns "weak" h**a** Muthaf******..
Signed Carsten Crucnh
I have never understood why people think so highly of Sabathia. He was heroic down the stretch that year when he got traded to Milwaukee, but last night wasn't the first time he's shown a lack of class as a Yankee. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, just that I don't think he's anything special, character-wise.
CC Sabathia = Black Boomer Wells
I thought Sabathia was terrific for us during his first 4 years in New York. I just don't think Cashman should've given him that crazy big contract when his fastball was already fading.
But as I understand it, Gene Michael, "the Rasputin of baseball," hypnotized Cash into making the offer.
HOSS, WHAT A FUCK UP THAT OTHER anonymous IS!
UNBELIEVABLE!
GENE MICHEAL A DOPE?
UNBELIEVABLE!
WHAT AN ASSHOLE!
CC just needs a stiff drink. And to watch a movie from the 1960"s in turner tv channel.
Forget about baseball for a while.
Pitching for the Yankees is frustrating.
Being a fan is worse.
I know, ALL-CAPS. He's a piece of work!
I will have to work very hard to keep from baiting him. So glad I found that Nederlander quote, hee-hee.
Takes some of the sting out of Sonny Gray handing in what has now become his standard, 5-1 loss to the Carmine Hose...
