Meanwhile......

In some news article today, I read that " Aaron Judge Still Won't Be Ready For opening Day."

His injury persists.

Since there is not likely to be an opening day, I tried to deduce what that headline really means.

It must mean he is not going to play again for at least a year.

It likely means : he has to have surgery on that rib thing.  That " extensive rest" ( always the Yankee's favorite therapy ) is not doing the trick.

And, of course, the Yankee leaders ( and owners ) will lie about the seriousness of his injury, taking their lead from, I don't know who in America.

Aaron's rib surgery, of course, fits the category of " elective surgery," so no one will schedule it during the so-called, pandemic hoax.

What this means for the Yankees is;  nothing.

It means the same for us.

But it is news.

OUTRAGEOUS.

JUST CANCEL THE FUCKING SEASON.

NOW WE ARE GOING TO HAVE PLAYERS AND OWNERS BICKERING AND NEGOTIATING ABOUT HALF SEASON SALARIES?

FUCK THIS.

END IT, SO WE CAN HAVE JUDGE READY BY THE ALL STAR BREAK, IN 2021.

Yeah, I saw that, too, Alphonso, and had much the same feeling.

Plus, I think ALL-CAPS and I need to channel our rage, take a couple baseball bats across the pond when we are allowed to leave the country again, go to Lloyd's of London and explain to the good people there that the purpose of insurance is not to let people do the same stupid, fucking things over and over again.

Which, if you throw big, fat, insurance contracts at our New York Yankees, they will surely do.

First it was ruining the arm of Luis Severino, who had become as good as any pitcher in the American League, starting him for months with a wing that required T.J. surgery and insisting that he was just "tipping his pitchers."

Why? Because the Yanks wouldn't spring for an MRI with color shading.

Same thing with Judge. This guy we know already is so fragile dives for a ball in September, hears a pop, comes back and reports it to the dugout.

The Yanks' crack medical team can't find a thing. If they had, Judge could have spent the off-season taking care of this, and come back ready to play—at least until the next injury.

But no.

Brian Cashman has told us that the break "was really hard to find" because it was near the shoulder. He has told us that, "Judge has a really incredible capacity for pain"—as if this were somehow Judge's fault, his willingness to be able to play through the pain.

WTF? You're supposed to be able to suss out when a player is hurt and when he isn't, dimwits.

Gee, do you suppose it's at all possible that medical care like this could have a little something to do with pretty much an entire dynasty of players getting ruined over the last three years? I dunno. Brian Cashman has yet to finish the "investigation" he promised after last season.

The Yankees have always been pretty callous about the welfare of their players. It's only by the grace of the JuJu gods that the likes of even Ruth, DiMaggio, and Mantle, the holy trinity, were not ruined right away in New York by incompetent medical care.

But hey, that was back in the day when you could pick up great ballplayers for about 10 to a nickel, at any corner stand and Filene's Basement.

What is the point of letting players in whom you've already invested millions—and whom, in Judge's case, you were planning to make not only the face of your franchise but "MLB" in general—destroy themselves because you can't be bothered to shell out for First World health care?

Well, hey, why not, since it won't cost you a thing? Just call up Lloyd's and they'll let you be feckless as you wanna be.

The Porcelain Giant strikes again.

It's not his fault, of course. He's just genetically wired to get injured doing what players have done for well over a century. Same with John Carlo.

Mantle got hurt a lot, too, but as Bouton wrote in "Ball Four," they just taped whatever it was and sent him out. All in all, it probably did less damage than his drinking. Not that I'd ever criticize anyone for that. I'm too guilty myself.
