Sure, the game was long lost.
Everyone, including the Orioles wanted it to be over.
A foul pop was hit between first and home plate.
Trevino and DJ both wanted someone else to get it.
To get in position required a bit of effort. Some running.
Neither had any energy.
The ball "plopped" between them, giving Baltimore another hack at another Hack.
DJ and Trevino didn't dare look at each other. Someone might have swung a fist.
But neither had the energy.
It was a " plop" heard round the world.
Like a baby ruth in the swimming pool.
This year's Yankee team.

Surely, you can't expect major league baseball players to run down every catchable ball hit in their general direction. Why, if they did that, there would be less offense in the game, which would require even more rule changes than the ones we're currently trying to absorb.
Please, Alphonso, think of the big picture. The whole putrid, lousy, stinking picture.
That type of play would’ve made this week in baseball. Hello everybody this is Mel Allen and boy do
The Yankees suck..,
Now that we’re done laughing at him, Ben Rortvedt is quietly putting together a solid year @ SWB, BA .314, OPS 1.004.
More HR’s than Hig/Trevino in far fewer AB’s. Hits LH.
Your move, Ashman.
He was supposed to be our starting catcher. They traded for him to be that.
Higashioka and Trevino are redundant, both good defense (allegedly), both righthanded, neither can hit for shit. Trade one, bring up Borttvedtd.
The infield has to get more athletic. Peraza up, Done-aldson somewhere else (at home?), LeMahieu, I don't know but all signs point to "shot".
The infielders-in-the-outfield experiment has been a disaster, especially recently. Bauers can't catch, IKF can't play the outfield, Waldo can't hit and he's not an outfielder either. They're giving up runs and extra outs and games and it's time to just stop with this shit. Stanton is useless, Bader is glass. Florial though, Florial is a true outfielder. Can't hit? Two thirds of the team can't hit. Give him a chance, a real chance. If he stinks send him down, he'll pass waivers through again, right back where we are now. If he's good, problem solved.
All these fuckers do is kick the can on down the road. Sevy? just has to work out a few kinks. Stanton? he's getting close, he's close. Donaldson? we feel like he's got a lot left in the tank. Rizzo? something mechanical he's working on. Rodon? boy oh boy he's a bulldog. The infielder/outfielders? we feel like they're doing a good job out there.
And on and on.
Meanwhile, looks like Wandy's had enough. He's throwing at batters when the one he should be throwing at is the little bald weasel.
Unwaveringly fed the fuck up.
