And don't forget about Jorge. If he gets enough playing time, he's on pace to break Hank Aaron's all-time HR record sometime in September. Are tickets still available in right field?

OK, Aaron's record is still safe, but Jorge is still on pace to hit HR #500 this year.

By the way, what was John's home run call for Grandy (who still is on a 250-HR pace)?

Wow, I actually forgot that Barry Bonds technically holds the home run record. Pity my creeping dementia or praise my sense of integrity, your choice.

And by the way BRETT GARDNER IS NOW ON PACE TO BREAK THE ALL-TIME SINGLE SEASON HIT RECORD!!!!!!

Bern, John's Grandy HR call was a disgraceful "Oh, Curtis! You're something sorta grandish!" Which I don't get at all.

From the Twitter account of the Bergen Record's Pete Caldera (@pcaldera):

Re: Sterling HR call on Granderson: It's a reference to a song from 'Finian's Rainbow,' lyric by Yip Harburg, "something sort of grandish.'

I think John is overestimating the overlap between Yankee fans and Finian's Rainbow fans.

Not sure if I should be pleased or embarrassed that I got the Sterling reference.

Supe,

He's just forcing people to expand their horizons.

Kind of like when Crow would make a bizarre crack that I didn't understand on MST3K, I'd have to go find out the pop culture reference I was missing.

(OK, now I've got all six of you actually reading this thinking I'm some sort of nerd who lives in my parents' basement ... )

Michael Kay just said that Curtis "arrived in Granderson style." Has he been taking lessons from Sterling over the winter? Since it took him about five innings to say it, probably not.
