It takes a mighty big blog to admit you wuz wrong.
This day, no blog stands taller in the Yankiverse than New York Mag.
Last year, when the site first sought to Deconstruct John Sterling, it attempted to calibrate the Master's nightly performances on a horribly meager 35-point scale. We protested, as did practicing Yankeologists everywhere. Fortunately, our concerns took seed in NY Mag's fertile womb. Yesterday, the blog recanted its 35-point scale and replaced it with a 50-point scale.
If we had our way, Sterling's calls would be measured on an infinity-based scale. But the sad truth is, such a scale would be meaningless, because even if John doubled his performance level, he would still be at zero percent of perfection, plus it would be hard to draw block charts, because the Internet isn't big enough, if you truly understand the concept of infinity. So a 50-point scale is better than nothing.
A 50-point scale is better than nothing.
Now, world -- let's give us some WinWarbles! That's what we need. Not scales. WinWarbles.
HERE IS JOHN'S 2009 POST-SEASON RECORD
