Yanks Invest $ Millions In Future Stars

Somewhere in this class of 15 year olds are two millionaires.

One is a catcher, and the other an outfielder.

Brian Cashman's scout team has been scouring the underbelly of international baseball locker rooms for talented prospects.

By the time any of them are ready for MLB, most on this blog will be looking up at daisies.

Remember the lost promise of Jackson Melian?

Christ, even Cashman will be interviewing nursing homes by the time any of this crop appears above the soil.

I guess you have to start somewhere.  If we have been doing this for 20 years, we should have witnessed some " home grown " results.  Give me a name, please.

But from whence come the pitching prospects?

Drafting guys for (and from) the " Tommy John " hospital ward just hasn't been cutting it.

Please/Por Favor:

Don't sign anyone named, " Sonny."

No more Sonnys is damn right. Think about how damaged a first name like that must leave a child.

I'm on vacation as of about 8 minutes ago. There is nothing stopping a pants on head rampage until the All-Star break. I will lay down furious inchoate howling and thrash our foes, driving them before the Pinstripers like the breaking-ball hanging curs we know our opponents to be.

Here are three. I'm sure there are more but these guys seem pretty good.

"The Yankees signed Dominican third baseman Miguel Andujar, according to Ben Badler of Baseball America. The 16-year-old obtains a $700K bonus.

(Gary) Sánchez signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent in July 2009, receiving a $3 million signing bonus.

(Luis) Severino signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent on December 26, 2011, agreeing on a $225,000 signing bonus.

Not to be a pain - but you asked and I'm just siting here. So Here are some other current Yankees. We didn't do the signing but...

-- Gleybar Torres signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 2013, for a $1.7 million signing bonus. (17 years old.)

Torreyes signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an international free agent in February 2010

Germán was signed by the Florida Marlins as an international free agent in 2009.

So they are out there.

Has Bird ever swung the bat at a pitch on the outside part of the plate? Christ almighty he's so far off the plate in the batter's box he's practically in the dug out.

That's it; pants are coming off ...

Okay, I'm not watching, but I just looked at the box. Why did they pull Lasagna after four innings and three runs? Was he in trouble?

You know when you're listening to the Master or regretfully watching the YES broadcast and you either expect someone to get a hit or hope someone gets a hit? Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, but you still expect some level of production. With Higgy it's honestly a feeling of why bother. With Bird (the most comparable guy) you just expect him to strike out or ground out to 1st, but if he got a hit you'd be marginally surprised. Higgy is only there to slow down the game. The umps should just call him out and shave a few minutes off the game because there is no hope for him. I have higher expectations for the pitchers during interleague games than him. Goodness gracious.

Lasagna's pitch count was 92 (a lot of lo ng at bats against him)

I love how we have to rest Austin Romine in a season in which he will be lucky to play 75 games.
