Vertigo and Trevino tonight. "Best lineup" my ass.

JM said...

Wild as hell.

Wild? As Hell?

JM said...

Gil. Wild at heart.

Here comes the run

(Bottom of the Sixth)

It's too bad we had to face Cy Young again tonight.

I think this Soto guy might be pretty good.

BernBabyBern said...

Feet are overrated for hitting.

JM said...

Soto woke up.

JM said...

We don't need no fucking feets.

Hinkey Haines said...

Smart move by Boone. Get Holmes in to blow the save early tonight, rather than torture us in the 9th.

AboveAverage said...

Holmes in early to give up the lead

AboveAverage said...

One dozen blown saves by Clayber

JM said...

Holmes finally gets an out , but the guy had clocked it. Eight pitches, and he gave up two hits and a liner.

Of course, it's now 2-2.

JM said...

He really sucks. So does Trevino.

My brother thinks the Yanks should make Gil the closer for the last few weeks and the postseason. Holmes sucks, Gil has been good, he's over 140 innings (which in the old days was nothing but in today's game is nearing panic level for young pitchers) and with Schmidt back the Yankees' need is greater at closer than in the rotation. .... Personally, I disagree. Gil has been a starter pretty much all through his pro career, through several seasons in the minors. I don't like the idea of taking a young pitcher who is doing well and putting him in an unfamiliar role during the pressure cooker of New York in the playoffs. I'm not sure who the closer is, but I don't think it should be Gil. ... I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

JM said...

I agree with you, Bern. Not a good idea. The kid has never pitched in relief at all. Plus, his control is too lousy for closing. And they need him in the rotation. Cole, Gil, Schmidt, Rodent. That could work.

Creative double play on the part of Trivino. Asshole.

BernBabyBern said...

Which, of course, brings up the question .... who the hell does close in the playoffs? Kahnle? Weaver? Hamilton? .... Nestor? (I'm thinking Kahnle might have an edge, but it's probably whoever looks best the last couple weeks)

Who needs the martian when we have pauly and bighead?

Fuck Ca$hole and the Nepo baby. And fuck bonehead for obeying their orders.

AboveAverage said...

Pinch hit the Martian

Rufus T. Firefly said...

He's percolating on the bench. Might be ready by next week. Or not.

Hinkey Haines said...

That’s the second time I’ve seen Cousins pick a guy off first this week. Spiffy.

BTR999 said...

At this point, it doesn’t really make sense to have him close. Looks like the team intends to put Cortes in the ‘pen for the post season. As I’ve said, the team needs to develop young coders in the minors

BTR999 said...

Kay keeps talking about the Yankees “walking it off”, as if that might really happen.

Hinkey Haines said...

Didn’t $man or Boone say there was a lane for Dominguez? If he’s not pinch-hitting in the 9th tonight, what lane is it? The exit ramp?

BTR999 said...

Stanton/Verdugo/Volpe in the bottom of the ninth with 3 weak AB’s.

AboveAverage said...

Sometimes these extra inning games are the saddest things in the world.

BTR999 said...

Trevino couldn’t throw out the garbage.

AboveAverage said...

Sadness

Hinkey Haines said...

I hate this fucking team.

Pocono Steve said...

Fucking assholes.

AboveAverage said...

Cousins is frustrated and annoyed. He could smell the festering black mold in Boone’s brain approaching the mound and will toss a spearmint tic tac into his pie hole to distract his reeling mind away from the stankiness

DickAllen said...

Why the fuck is Wells sitting in the bench. Or more to the point, why is travinio still starting? Did I miss something?

AboveAverage said...

The WELLS!!!

ranger_lp said...

Yankees Win!!!

AboveAverage said...

Winny can U hear me?

Hinkey Haines said...

That was a big Yankee win.

JM said...

We won an extra innings game. Amazing.

Ed Kranepool - rest in peace. or power. or whatever. I was always a Yankee fan, but 1969 was all about the Mets and every kid in my neighborhood was rooting for them.

Kevin said...

Cortes as the playoff closer. He seems to have more game, and balls than the others.

Stang said...

Fab pic, AboveAverage!

Pocono Steve said...

Glad to have slept through a coin-flip win. Let's face it. Once the relief staff fails to allow the Yanks to escape the 9th inning with a lead, the ghost-runner game is air hockey.
