Yankeetorial: Let's go to a six-man DH rotation

Everyone knows the game is 90 percent DHing, and our depth is showing at this critical position.

Currently, our rotation is:

Giambi
Matsui
Ensberg
Damon
Duncan (Scranton)
Posada (when injured)

Yes, we're down to a 4-man DH rotation. Some managers claim you can escape April with a four-man, but what happens in July and August? Collapse. That's what.

Thus far, we're modeling this club after the great teams of the 1980s, when Dallas Green, Bucky Dent or Bill Virdon (the manager rotation) kept a DH arsenal of Mel Hall, Ron Kittle, Danny Tartabull, John Mayberry, Ron Hassey, et al.

Right now, we're short of guns.

There's talk of signing Mike Piazza. That's the spirit. Back to the Eighties! As they say, you can never have too much DHing.

Hey,

Nice ass.

We'll let the Prince decide.

It's been a long time since I heard the name Ron Hassey spoken (or read it). I am convinced he could have stolen 50 bases a year had the team run more back then. When I think fast, I think Ron Hassey. For a time, I thought Butch Wynegar, but I was wrong. It's Hassey.

They weren't talking about getting Piazza. They were talking about getting a PIZZA. Get your facts straight!

And we'll be happy to add your mets blog to our mets blogroll when we do one.

We currently have no plans to do one, but thanks for asking. Have a nice season.
