Metlife to Make One Yank Fan's Life into Pure Ecstacy

The Metlife people tell us...

"The MetLife Yankee Stadium Regular Season Countdown Sign located in center field, officially counts the number of remaining regular season home games scheduled to be played, and provides fans with an opportunity to celebrate the final games."

But wait, there's more.

"Today, MetLife announced that it is giving one lucky fan the ultimate opportunity to pull the Yankee Stadium Regular Season Countdown Lever and become a part of history. The MetLife Countdown Sweepstakes offers a fan the opportunity to step in and add their name to a host of VIPs, celebrities and Yankees greats who have pulled the lever."

It would be neat if Metlife used the proper singular wording for a fan to add his or her name -- seeing as how one fan cannot add their name -- but why quibble? They're insurance brokers, not English teachers.

Some lucky fan gets to pull the lever. Plus they get to meet Joe Girardi -- and get a gift bag!

From now on, Andy Warhol's line should go:

In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes, plus receive a gift bag!

The gift bag better be a sack of high-grade narcotics - if the Yanks don't make the playoffs, we're all going to need some chemical relief to get over it.
