Something sort of Grandish: John powers a 6.07-second opening WinWarble

Maybe it was Boston. Maybe it was Pedroia's peach-skinned arms. Maybe it was the woody scent of Suzyn's hair. It doesn't matter. A 6.07 WinWarble is an achievement. Try it at home, and the neighbors will dial 9-1-1.

The Master last night piped a solid 6.07-second WinWarble, putting him ahead of last season's first half pace, when the Sterling Index winnowed below the 6.00 Messer Line deep into summer's reality show reruns.

You ask why we do this. You ask why we surrounder ourselves with Sterling's shoes. You ask why children run from us. Then you hear a captured 6.07 WinWarble and you think, yeah, it's worth the rash, worth the long hours in the bush. This is why we choose the crazy thing called life. And dammit, this is why you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. And why when one door closes, one more opens. Why you give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or watch... you watch.
