Great news on Montgomery (fingers crossed)

They're saying "elbow strain" and that he might only miss one start.

If you believe them.

Are you sure? I'm reading elsewhere "Jordan Montgomery will not throw for two-to-three weeks with a flexor strain, manager Aaron Boone told WFAN. He estimated Montgomery would miss six-to-eight weeks total."

Two months is pretty bad but on upside is that he'll be fresh when other the pitchers around the league will be just starting to tire out.

Either way, it's not Tommy John, which is good. It's what I had predicted would happen to him a few weeks ago during the guess the Yanks season stuff here.

Fake news.

ESPN is also reporting 6-8 weeks.

The back end of the bullpen (assuming they pencil Domingo in as #5 starter) now consists of David Hale (who was DFA'd and re-claimed) and A.J. Cole (who posted numbers that made Mets fans cry).

Wow. Is there a word beyond "underwhelming" available?

Now Tyler Austin might be hurt. I'm a little concerned that El Duque's post may have been misconstrued by the JuJu gods as a request for injuries in order to clear roster spots.

Boone is saying 6-8 weeks, but apparently Tyler One is okay.

And I hope you all noticed how my slam on Scranton got him turned around.

I just can't keep making these JuJu sacrifices, guys. It drains me, I tell ya it drains me. We need a little help from the universe here!

Isn't that what Kaprelian had? Two of those later and our future ace is off in Oakland and we have Sonny Gray.

Anyways who wants to predict tomorrow's papers? Will they go with Sevy's gem or DeGrom's wonky elbow (Monty is an afterthought to them now)? My guess is Degrom as the Mets' game ended hours earlier and the papers love disasters more than masterpieces.

And Horace that definitely worked. I threatened to start posting under the name Andujar Sucks and he started hitting. However, by talking about it, I probably just reversed everything.

I know, Leinstery, I may have done the same. But hey, the JuJu gods ain't stupid. They can see right through us.

MEANWHILE...more news:

Ellsbury, who has apparently not resumed any baseball activities, has been moved to the 60-day DL. I feel kinda bad about this, despite by devout wish that he would just retire.

But...Frazier had a homer and walk-off single in the Railriders' special morning game today, with Drury helping to set up the winning rally with a hit, and Higashioka drawing a walk. Meanwhile, some kid named Koemer down there pitched 7 innings of shutout ball.

Slowly, ponderously, like the glaciers of yore, the great team begins to move into position.
