While Waiting for the Rain to Clear

While waiting for today's rain-delayed game to start, I decided to look through other MLB news.  I was interested to see that our old friend Chase Headley was DFA'd by the Padres.

Going 6 for 52 will do that to you...not much else to say.

Yes, I saw that yesterday. So sad He was only 34 years old ...

Pity. But I could never stand old Steady State when he played for us. The estimated $77.7 mill he has made in the game will console him.

Also, Bryan Mitchell has been awful for them.

A game fellow. Looked like a ballplayer. Grimly determined. But there was no there there, even if Cashman did bestow upon him and his heirs enough money to keep his great-grandchildren off the soup line.

The eternal question about Headley remains unanswered: How did 2012 happen with 31 doubles, 31 homers and 115 RBI. Up until then and ever since he was the MLB standard for a below average offensive player.

LETS LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE (FOR US).

WE HAVE A 3RD BASEMAN WHO HAS LITERALLY HAD MORE CLUTCH HITS IN HIS FIRST FULL MONTH OF MAJOR LEAGUE SERVICE, THAN HEADLEY HAD IN HIS ENTIRE TENURE WITH US.

....AND THIS 3RD BASEMAN DOESN'T CARRY THE FEAR OF AIR MAILING EVERY GROUND BALL HE FIELDS INTO THE FIRST BASE STANDS.

PLUS THIS 3RD BASEMAN DOESN'T COST US $13 MILLION A YEAR.

ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS GIVE ANDUJAR THE OPPORTUNITY.

@WinWarblist...it's not an obit...it's a DFA. And he's still 34 years old.

So when is Hicks going to be DFA'd? And Ellsbury. And Drury.

Parson Tom--He's six years older now. I suggest buying a biology textbook--you can find them cheap on line.
