Winter Blunderland

Winter Blunderland

(To the tune of Winter Wonderland)

Death knells ring, are you listening?

Our GM’s… head is glistning.

His moves won’t work out.

A title we doubt.

Witnessing his winter blunderland.

Started strong-  we got Soto.

Hal implied – we could blow dough.

But bupkis since then.

Hader for the pen?

Not in Brian’s winter blunderland.

Instead of Yamamato we got Stroman.

He was always signing with LA.

We need another starter

But it’s,  “No man”

Maybe we can trade for Sonny Gray.

In Left Field, there’s a new low.

Malcontent, named Verdugo.

Told Yank fans, ”go to hell.”

Yeah, this will end well.

Witnessing our winter blunderland.

Our minor leaguers never seem to grow, man.

When they do they never let them play.

Or send them up and down until they blow, man.

Then we pack them up, and then trade them away.

As Yank fans we get tired.

But no one will get fired.

We’re the ones who are played

By the plans that they’ve made,

Living in their winter blunderland.

Living in their winter blunderland.

Living in their winter blunderland.

Hot stove rumors, they are flying.
But Yankees management is still lying.
On the pitching staff, there’s a blight.
With no rescue in sight.
Like every day and night, we’re skeptical tonight
Squawking in a winter blunderland.

In the meadow, we can build a strawman.
We’ll pretend that he is Kevin Brown
When it comes to signing Snell,
I say " no man",
Kindly take your agent and go to hell!

The usual sight
It's always "we might"
Seething in a winter underplanned.

Says it all, Doug! Great work...

...So, nice recommendation by JM to read Robert Casey's cri de coeur (or cri de cur, if we're talking Cashman) at Bleeding Yankee Blue, on the state of the Yankees this offseason.

I'd like to do the same for Neil Keefe at keefetothecity.com, and his scintillating takedown of Cashman, then and now.

https://keefetothecity.com/yankees-thoughts-marcus-stroman-a-difference-maker-four-plus-years-later/

The Venerable Keefe slices and dices Cashie, showing how, contrary to what The Brain said 4 years ago, Stroman might well have been the guy who put "over the top" in 2019...and how he likely isn't that guy today.

Always, always, ALWAYS with Brian Cashman, the same mistakes, repeated again and again. And why not? After all, there are never any consequences.

As Mr Burns would say: exxxccccccelent!
I still have a fondness for Bob Rivers' version.

And how many outlets will need to scream "fire Ca$hole!" before the silver-spoon-up-his-ass HAL reads one of them and does the right thing?

Sorry, rhetorical question. The answer is never enough.
