Helling of LaTroy: In painful 8th, Suzyn and John Spake Poetry

In the eighth inning, as LaTroy Hawkins melts down -- eventually to be replaced by the man he was supposed to replace, Kyle Farnsworth -- the Loews Broadcast Booth is not merry.

Susyn masks her pain with sexual innuendo.

John undergoes a 1960s flashback.

The following are verbatim transcripts. 8th Inning. Yanks v. Rays.

On LaTroy, Up and Straight

By Suzyn Waldman

His fastball is straight,
And he's missing with it.
It's up,
And it's over the plate,
And he's missing with it,
And it's very very straight.

Shoveling Partly Cloudy

By John Sterling

There was a mystery,
It was a Perry Mason mystery,
And the people involved
Were a television news thing.
And the guy called out,
Out to the weather guy,
(They were off the air at the time,)
"By the way, Gary,
"I've had to shovel
"A lot of 'Partly Cloudy' lately!"
Here's the oh-one to Crawford.
Swung on, lined to left...
