SEATTLE _ GM Brian Cashman is coming along on the Yanks' grueling 10-day road trip, increasing stress levels for players who face off-season trades and creeping out others who always thought he was a bit – well, you know – different.
“The players are excited to have the architect traveling with them,” Yank team player representative Mike Mussina told reporters. “Everybody feels more secure when, during a choppy flight, Brian emerges from the cockpit to sit with us, to make us laugh and feel good about ourselves. He’s truly the life of every bus ride, with the I-spy games he plays and the songs he gets us singing. We all love having Brian hang with us. He's a homeboy, a member of our posse.”
Cashman said the chance to hang with players, "walking the talk, talking the talk and bagging a few hookers" is a moment every GM cherishes. Also, if anybody gets pissy, he can always pull the trigger on a waiver deal before reaching the next airport.

"It's a win-win situation for me," he said, reflectively. "You know, I thought I knew everything about Jason Giambi, but the mental image of him leaning over the toilet this morning at 3 a.m. will be one I treasure for the rest of my life."
