I gotta tell you; wearing a hollowed out watermelon on your head for 48 hours can make you crazy.
True, one of my best buddies kept pouring tequila through the eye holes so I wasn't completely without nourishment.
The main thing is; it worked.
We're on a winning streak and Boston can feel our hot breath on their slimy and unworthy bones.
To me, the big news of yesterday's game wasn't that AJ didn't get injured. Nor was it the tale of his stamina in putting together 5+ consecutive innings in the same game.
It wasn't Teixeirady hitting his first dinger. Nor Nick Swisher's hot bat.
There is a story that both Derek and Damon were a bit worn down after two consecutive outings, reflected in their combined 0-8 yesterday. But even that isn't yet the big story.
Many will say the big story was the continued good work of the bullpen, as the Orioles have gotten "zip" off our pen the last two games. Or that Brett got two hits and is back in the hunt for the league batting title.
That's a story yet to be told.
The BIG STORY of the game was Ramiro Pena's first gig at SS, and his first hit in his first major league at bat. This kid might just hang on longer than we think ( I know, they want him to play everyday at AAA ). But, he might just hang on.
And he might just be the SS in waiting we never heard of before.
That's a big story.

He'll be Rookie of the Year. (Well, maybe Rookie of a Few Months.)
