It is time for my fearless 2010 predictions

OK, I'm on a limb here, but fuck, its time to buck up and predict the season ahead.

Sooooooooo...

1. We'll make the playoffs, but we won't like what we see. We'll build a cakewalk lead and then practically blow it. We'll stumble and nearly fall apart at the end. But we'll have too much talent, too many good players to fail.

2. Tampa will give us the only real competition. They might win the AL East. Nobody will care, because Boston will be out of it. Why do I know this? Because they stupidly signed Mike Cameron. Thank God they signed Mike Cameron. They also have Mike Lowell, who is done, and Jacoby Ellsbury, who has no heart. If they lose Youkilis, they won't even be close to us. But I wish we signed John Lackey instead of trading for Javier Vazquez.

3. Javier Vazquez. He's a nice guy. That's all you can say. Why are we bringing him back? Because we didn't give up much to get him? Not a good enough reason. The Braves are not stupid. They peddled his butt for a reason. Why are we bringing him back? We will ask that question all season.

4. CC will save our butts. He'll win 20, maybe 21. He'll be the only sure thing we have on the staff. I don't trust AJ. Nobody will. That deal where he needs his own catcher? It's toxic. It's the beginning of a collapse. If Andy gets hurt, and we have to rely on AJ to carry the load, this team will crumble.

5. Look for Cano to have a big year. He needs one. He's got the talent. And Melky, with the sex videos, will be out of his life. We all loved Melky. Walk off pies will never be the same. Neither will Cano. MVP? Don't laugh. He could win it.

6. Jesus Montero will start slow at Scranton, then come on strongly. Let's hope he doesn't get traded. I'm betting that if Cashman has any yips around June 21, he'll look to move Jesus. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

7. Phil Hughes will have a good year at starter, but they'll go apeshit trying to figure out how to keep his innings in lines. Meanwhile, I don't know what to make of Joba. He'll be in limbo. Just hope we stick with him. He's going to take another year or two. The Zambronos always do.

8. Brett Gardner is going to be good. I know Alphonso doesn't agree. Trust me. He'll get on base. He'll hit .270. And if he can hit .270, he's going to be a factor.

9. Curtis Granderson is a great man. Not sure he'll be a great Yankee. I like his speed and style. Can he hit lefties? Donno. Probably not. He should be a 30-HR guy. We'll be lucky if we get 25.

10. Bullpen? I'd love to say Mark Melancon will be the Next Big Thing, but they'll probably trade him for a moving van. I like Dave Robertson the most, but his fastball rides straight and smooth. He's still our best bet to get us to Mariano. Ahh, Mariano. He can't last forever. But he'll still be our closer. All year. Our closer. And write this down: Better than Papelbon. Ohhhh, so much better than Papelbon.

This is stupid. Vazquez was a great pickup.

Giving up Melky was an incredible mistake. You are out of your head.

No way. you are daft.

This website has no intelligence whatsoever. Stick to trying to be funny. You know nothing about the Yankees.

It is time to separate the true prophets from those fools who are blinded by bloggery egoism.

10 PREDICTIONS MADE BY ME, EL DUQUE, ON THIS STAR DATE: MARCH 30, 2010.

1. The Yankees will finish in second place in the American League East. They will not win the Wild Card and they will not play in the post-season. This is because Baltimore and Toronto will be much improved. (The Jays didn't, as has been popularly reported, give Halladay away for nothing.) As a result, the AL East will be one tough somebich division. And second place will not offer a Wild Card.

2. Johnny Damon will hit more home runs and bat higher than Curtis Granderson, who nevertheless will have a fine season and be popular in New York. It will not be Granderson's fault that the Yankees fail to make the post-season. But Damon, as a point of personal pride, will make sure his numbers exceed the man wrongly viewed to be his replacement.

3. Mariano Rivera will pitch into August, then break down from age, and the Yankees will not have an adquate closer. If you saw me now, you would see tears in my eyes as I write these terrible words. But it can't go on forever. He will tweak a muscle or something will fail, and when Mariano is not right, our whole team is not right. Who is going to replace him? Joba? Maybe someday. Not this year.

4. The Yankees will trade Jesus Montero and Brett Gardner for Carl Crawford at mid-season. The trade will backfire, as Crawford suffers adjustment pains in New York, and then, they have nobody to deal for a relief pitcher, down the stretch. But Jesus Montero will face growing pains at Triple A, when smart baserunners steal on every pitch. It will affect his hitting, and the Yankees will have no place for a DH. Tampa will be looking to trade Carl Crawford, and the Redsocks will be sniffing, and there will be no middle ground. Worse, we won't just give up Montero and Gardner. It will also cost at least another top prospect. Yeow.

First..dont listen to these losers with no sense of humor...funny site.

Vazquez was a terrible pickup. We knew right from the signing that he cant take the pressure of the NY--he already showed that once. We also said Chan Ho Park would stink in the AL and he did. The "we" is my family. I cant understand how "we" can clearly see these things when cashMan cant.
