The New York Times today reports on the emerging force for Yankee global change that is Jesus Montero.
Until now, the Times has been reluctant to recognize Jesus as our one true Yankees lord and personal savior. That is because the godless Times does not believe in one true Yankees lord and personal savior.
Well, Franciso Cervelli believes. Because yesterday, he came back from a concussion to go 2/3. Cervelli believes that unless he major league pitching, Jesus is going to replace him one day, faster than anyone who can say collision at home plate against Tampa.
Jesus came up in the bottom of the ninth yesterday in a situation that by any standards would have been a miracle. The Yankees had won the game, and yet they were still batting. John Sterling's voice began to rise. He said, he was really looking forward to the next batter: JESUS.
From that moment on, John and Suzyn began to praise him. They praised Jesus hard. I'm not sure whether they yet adore him. That will come later.
Jesus stroked a clean single up the middle. Base hit.
And today, the Times is onboard. Jesus is coming.
