I sat behind home plate at Frontier Field on Saturday night to see Karstens leave injured (again), and Jason Lane knock an extra inning 2-run homer against the Red Wings.
About 3 innings in, lo' and behold, the man, the myth, the legend, Kei Igawa came out to watch (hey his first name is my last name!).
He was accompanied by his posse and fellow interpreter, and seemed to be pretending to keep score.
When asked for an autograph, he didn't even speak... just pointed at his scoring sheet and shook his head. Some other guy came up later and tried to get his attention, but the omniscient Igawa didn't even turn around (eyes in the back of his head?).
Finally, at the end of the game, he scribbled this on a baseball (nearly writing on Nick Green's signature!!):
Just think, when Igawa finds a better home and wins 3 consecutive Cy Young awards, this little piece of history will be alllllll mine (P.S. Alphonso will be my financial agent when the time comes to sell this prior to my retirement).
