You'd have thought that a Mariano strikeout with the bases loaded, at home against Boston, would have brought John Sterling to at least a 7-second-long win-warble Saturday.
Didn't happen.
He nailed a solid 6.76... which puts it in the upper tier of Yankee win-croaks.
But it's not the 7.25 second call blast that John unfurled when the Giambino hit his rare, every-other-season walkoff.
Listen for yourself.
At first, John seems ready to go for a record. Then something happens. He runs out of gas. He just... can't... do it.
Is he getting old?
