Hideki Matsui.

Jeter.

Slade Heathcock? As a show of support?

John Smoltz.

Turns our season around against the Red Sox and manages to do it by tipping pitches in a manner that everyone in baseball saw except for Jason Veritek and Boston's coaching staff.

Rick Porcello....throwing at F Youk!

The Boston Redsox.

A whopping 1 game over .500... so far in August. While we are 10 games over .500 for the month.

LOL but seriously? Who else but ZZ. He's only 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA while averaging at least 7 innings per start. A WHIP of under 1 and more than a strikeout per inning. C'MON it's no contest.

you guys need to take the curse into consideration.

I nominate Jim Rice and Kei Igawa (because he is on every ballot)

Jeter, for being self-absorbed and playing the game the wrong way, with his baggy uniform and dreadlocks.

Chad Gaudin.

And that Boston blogger who coined the term "Small Market Sox."

Jeter or as john would say el capitan

Rarn said...

Jim Rice

It has to go to the Pope's broken wrist.

Yuke said...

Got to be Chad Gaudin.

We can't afford to risk applying the curse to anyone else on the roster.

Lou Gherig. Hes dead already.

Geofredo said...

Kei Igawa - for being Kei Igawa

Or Marte - for finally earning a little of his contract

Definitely down with Jim Rice. Gaudin for being Joba's backup pitcher? I don't know.. this month has been unexciting.. too much winning around these parts.

I nominate the Remdog...

But I'd vote for Jim Rice

He's almost as good as Mookie.

I also second Rick Porcello though. We gave it to Bobbby Meacham after he got canned. And Porcello grew up in Yankee territory, so he's gotta be qualified enough.

And please don't say Hideki, Jeter, or CC. Don't let them fall to the curse...

the fraud has a valid point...

Rick Porcello

The Pope's wrist

Kei

... and, of course, John Sterling for his surge early in the month. Remember those record-setting Warbles?

The only disadvantage is the curse would virtually assure that John would again be passed over for his much-deserved Ford C. Frick award.

How about Jack Nicholson as a late month entry? http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=6311817

Can we throw in Sarah Palin for saving us from Small Market Sawks Death Panels?

Stang said...

I second the nomination of the entire Small Market Sox organization.

I'll go with Jerry Hairston, Jr., who epitomizes the Yankees' go-for-broke attitude toward acquiring the players they need to win a World Series. He also stumped John with an unexpected homer. That should be another contest - help John with his Jerry Hairston, Jr. home run call.

Jerry! The Other Junior!

He has a Hairston call. I'm going to put it up soon.

How about one of el Duche-o's role models, Kim Jong Il?

Or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?
