13 fun facts about Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig

1. Bud is the only commissioner to have both canceled a World Series and shut down an All-Star Game in progress!

2. Bud has presided over the 1994 strike, the wild card, interleague play and the steroids era!

3. In 1970, after the owners refused to allow Bud to buy the Chicago White Sox, he snatched up the Seattle Pilots in bankruptcy court!

4. In 1985-87, Bud was central to the owners' free agent collusion strategy that later cost them $280 million in damages.

5. Bud led the movement to oust the union-friendly Fay Vincent.

6. To eliminate any hint of a conflict of interest, when Bud became Commissioner, he turned over the Brewers to his daughter!

7. In his first year as commissioner, Bud reinstated George Steinbrenner!

8. In 2001, Bud was sued for racketeering and conspiring to defraud the Montreal Expos’ minority owners. He settled out of court for an undisclosed sum!

9. Bud makes $18 million a year.
