"Mustang, somebody, anybody, we need another Sammy Davis Jr. video."--el duque

Sammy's huge talent was usually eclipsed by his even huger appetite for kitsch. But occasionally you can catch him in a moment of restraint to see the Sammy that might have been. Check out this little gem:

That's Sammy with Charles Strouse, who composed the score for the Broadway musical Golden Boy (also Bye Bye Birdie, Annie, Superman, etc.), in which Sammy starred in 1964. This is one song tailor-made for Sammy--no one could bring it off better--not Sinatra, not anyone.

I nominate this number as the official IIHIIFIIC theme song for the Yankee 2014 season: "Stick around, things are gonna happen . . . And of course in certain cases/ A dark horse may win some races."
