The most important "fact" is that we can first hear John again Saturday, March 5th at one... The first spring training broadcast game. What new catch phrase will he try out? Can he surpass "You can't predict baseball"? Will he lament Yogi's absence every inning, or just odd innings? Will he reassure us that a losing spring training record is meaningless, or regale us when our winning record portends a great season? And which seasoned subpar veteran will Suzyn develop a crush on? I have so much to look forward to.

We need a countdown clock. March 5th, at one.

Is Sterling a stage name? Or was John adopted by a stepfather after his parents' marriage ended? Or did it end due to the death of his mother?

And in his father's obit, he's called "Jack Sterling," a Yankees announcer. That was 1991. I can't remember that far back. He was already calling games? With who, Rizzuto? What happened to the "Jack" and when did it become John?

So many unanswered questions in this post. Mystery swirls around our legendary Master...
