The Real Wild Card...

...in baseball just now is the Boston Red Sox.

I have rarely if ever seen a team look so dominant as they did last weekend against us in Fenway.

It wasn't just the terrifying hitting—which did, indeed, came very close to setting all-time records for a single series—but every aspect of the game.  Their fielders were sharp and their starters dominant.  I could not imagine anyone save maybe the Astros stopping them from winning another ring.

And then...they went out and dropped the last game of the series to our boys, and three in a row—at home!—to the Tampa Bay Miracle Mutts Show.

I don't get it, but such weird turns of fortune have been Boston's stock-in-trade all year.  Just when they seem to have it all together, they lapse back into mediocrity.

True, we are probably just the foil for them to right themselves again this weekend, but I don't really know what to expect.  Which is fun.

Socks out of Fenway are Socks that can suck. Stealing signs from the antique scoreboard or whatever, they're just not anywhere near as good on the road. Don't expect a repeat.

Actually, even weirder, JM: going into tonight, they are 32-22 on the road, and only 27-29 at home.

I don't get it.

You just, and I mean this most sincerely, cannot predict baseball.
