Hey Mulligan Man!

I propose an IIHIIF Wins Contest mulligan.

Let's face it, despite our misgivings, no one predicted the disaster that is the 2023 Yankees. Most of us predicted in the 90's.

To some extent, we all drank the Kool Aid...

The kids will be good right away.

IKF won't play much.

Hicks won't play at all.

Judge will stay healthy.

Rodon will stay healthy.

Stanton will stay... OK, none of us are that stupid.

My point is we were wrong. Cashman level wrong.

El Duque - Please give us another chance to predict the win totals. I think I'm at 96. I didn't realize at the time that I was talking about the total number of wins over the next two seasons.

Throw us a bone.

No mulligans, breakfast balls or preferred lies. You play it where it sits

Celerino -

How about a different contest where we predict the number of losses! HA!

Well, it's early yet.

*cough*

Well, how about a Mondo Grand First Prize to whoever picked it right before the season started...and then a secondary, May Prize, for all of us surveying the wreckage?

Providing we get back Severino and Rodan.....81 wins and 81 losses.
With no offense, those pitchers plus Cole and Cortez will lose many 1-0, 2-1 games anyway.

JM - You should get that cough checked out.

You know our farm system is bare because the Yanks don't get high draft choices and that's because we are in the playoffs every year...

Doug...but no hernia.

The nice thing about getting old is that I can't remember what I predicted, but I'm sure that I WAS correct.

Ranger - Also because our GM and scouting sucks. Not to mention we trade players that could help for players that need help just to go to the bathroom.

@ JM...if the doctor's nurse is hot, ( or if your doctor is a hot female) insist she cup your "family jewels" in the hernia cough test.

I saw this cominh, but I did not predict this disaster on The It Is High Blog. With often injuried players, and Genius Cashman's Stiff replacements, an idiot Managers, what could one expect. There are many holes in The Yankees lineup that still have not been fixed. The Yankees organization has become The Wilpon Mets.

Thanks for the advice, Carl.

After 29 games, the 1966 Yankees were 10-19. We're tearing up the league in comparison, a full five games better.

But, last place is last place.

"Manager Aaron Boone acknowledged the team’s difficult stretch, but no one is feeling sorry for them. Poor roster construction appears to be at the core of their problems, considering the exorbitant amount of money spent on subpar talent.

"The team currently has $117.8 million worth of players on the injured list, implying that they should improve as some players recover. Nevertheless, Cashman has invested substantially in aging and injury-prone talent, so it comes as no surprise that the Yankees are grappling with these issues."

Is somebody here freelancing for Empire Sports Media?

Does anyone consider the possibility that things could become WORSE from here?

Carl your method may be dangerous said hot doc is a surgeon.

And rather than a mulligan, how about a prize for the WORST prediction? Let's call it a Gilligan.

Alphonso said...

Please Note; I predicted 77 wins. No wool on my eyes.

Rufus - Good one.

Well Doug, the Yankees play 29 games. They will go 14 and 15 if Judge comes back. Barren Hicks will play in some, because Chrapskate Hal is paying his salary and Genius Cashman was dumb enough to reup The Barren. Puppet Boone follows what ever The Genius wants.

I'll amend my 2023 Yankee win total to 77 games. Yes, under .500!

@ Carl, Where do I sign up for that? Where is that hottie doctor or nurse?

It's really amazing, no, almost "supernatural", how few of the Caribbean bonus babies have amounted to anything. That was one area, until the spending caps were implemented, that the Team really did pour a lot of money (negating the excuse of not getting to pick high in the draft). It would be interesting indeed to know the collective WAR across baseball of players who have been drafted or "bought" from overseas. Hell, they don't even trust their evaluators when it comes to Asian talent... Something just doesn't add up over The Brain's tenure. Kick-backs from player's agents (Caribbean players), perhaps?

@ Kevin, Yep, there is definitely something wrong. And plain old stupidity just doesn't explain it all for me. There is something more than that. Perhaps a combination of everything and the kitchen sink thrown in.
