Mystery Shrouds Rule 5 Pick Hoffman(n)

Can he hit?

Can he field?

Will the Yankees be able to keep him on the major league roster for the entire 2010 season?

All legitimate concerns, but clearly the most pressing question regarding the Yankees' Rule 5 pick is how to spell his last name - with one "n" as "Hoffman" (as in Dustin) or with two as "Hoffmann" (as in E.T.A. Hoffmann, German writer and composer)?

Joel Sherman of the NY Post seems stumped. He goes with "Hoffman" in his Hardball article (see link above), but with "Hoffmann" in a tweet on the subject, using a precious extra character for the second "n". In an earlier tweet he used "Hoffman".

El Duque of the noted Yankee fan blog "IT IS HIGH" goes with "Hoffman" in a recent headline, even though the graphic in his article shows the two "n" version.

Baseball-Reference.com likes the two "n" version.

Jamie, if you're reading this, please help!
