An Open Letter to Joe Lieberman: Give up your votes and help defeat Rudy Giuliani

Sen. Lieberman:

We are reaching the final hours of a crucial vote.

Yes, it is the middle of the night, but waiting until the morning would be too late. And the fabric of our very nation is what is at stake.

Senator, the voting for Celebrity Yankee Fan of the Decade is nearly over. The results, should the voting end as it now stands, would be disastrous.

Rudy Giuliani, turncoat and traitor to the Yankee cause, is in the lead. This, obviously, is the work of redsock fans eager to embarrass us off the field, since they could not beat us on the field. It is a disgrace.

But there is one hope.

Kate Hudson, who inspired and spurred on Alex Rodriguez to succeed where he previously had failed and thus helped lead the Yankees back to the rightful place at the top of the baseball world, is but one vote behind as of this writing. This despite having votes sucked away by extreme fringe candidates such as Tea Leoni (remember what Nader did to you and Al, Joe? It's happening again).

Joe, it is time for you to make the difference.

You have three votes as of this writing, Joe. Let's face it, your campaign here is going as bad as your 2004 presidential run. But unlike that election, Joe, this time you can be a factor.

Tell your supporters -- all 3 of them -- to change their votes and support Kate Hudson.

I know this is a difficult thing to do. You wanted this more than you wanted the presidency in 2004. Who wouldn't? But you cannot win, Senator. It is time to do what is right for your country. We must not let a redsock supporter take this crown.

Update, 6:53 a.m.: Lieberman down to 2 votes, Hudson up to 57 and a tie; work those phones, senator, and find those other two voters!
