Things Are Looking Up

There is a bar on the west side of Manhattan that shows the Yankee spring training games.

So yesterday I wandered over for some eggs and bloody Mary's at about 10:00am, and started some Yankee talk.

By 1:00pm the game against the Pirates was on.

The only thing I was looking for in that game was how Nick Johnson would do. As you know, he is scheduled to hit second, filling in for Johnny Damon.

Nick's claim to fame was/is his on base percentage. He is a tough out.

Sure enough, in the one at bat of his on which I was able to focus, he went 3-2 against some 8th inning no name pitcher before taking a called strike three.

So, he looks pretty much ready for the season.

an all-day brunch at a bar; not a bad way to spend a Wednesday in March
