Why Do They Even Schedule These Games?

It is currently 40 degrees in Boston, with a 50% chance of rain in the next few hours.

Then, as the sun fades from sight, the temperature will drop.

The beer will be cold and the ice cream sandwiches even colder.

Bats will crack apart.  Hands will shudder on contact.

Stanton will swing and miss.

And for our pitcher, from the Dominican Republic, it will seem like hell.

I will only watch from the enveloping waters of a hot tub.

Duque?  Is it hot yet?

Back in the day—well, the 1975-81 days, anyway—I remember MLB always set up these games better.

Sure, the Yanks and Sox played less often. But they usually didn't face each other until June.

It ensured that both teams had got untracked against lesser teams, and that the weather was pretty good.

Now...it's just the frozen pineapple express.

Just checked the box. Thought about quoting Churchill, but decided against it. Think I'm going to order some food and read some crap on the web, then walk the dog and go to bed.

Yeah, I think that's the course I will pursue through October.
